Jeff Cline, MD, board certified pediatrician and Community Physician Group medical director at Greenwood Health Center, was honored recently as this year's "Preceptor of the Year" by the Utah Area Health Education Centers.
The honor is given each year to a teaching clinician for service to students in the health professions. Cline has helped educate University of Utah Family Medicine interns for 14 years.
"His dedication and commitment to the academic mission and to patient care are exemplary," said John Barrett, MD, Community Physician Group executive director.
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services established Area Health Education Centers (AHECs) in 1972 to address the shortage in primary care physicians.
AHEC programs help provide access to primary and preventive care by partnering with academic institutions and community and professional organizations. AHECs serve over 85% of counties in the United States.
