The University of Utah College of Nursing recently announced that Dr. Kathy Sward was named a Member of Biomedical Computing & Health Informatics Study Section Center for Scientific Review.
The College of Nursing wrote in their announcement the following:
On behalf of the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Dr. Kathy Sward has been invited to serve as a member of the Biomedical Computing and Health Informatics Study Section, Center for Scientific Review, for a four year team (July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2024).
As noted by the NIH, "membership on a study section represents a major commitment of professional time and energy as well as a unique opportunity to contribute to the national biomedical research effort. Study sections review grant applications submitted to the NIH, make recommendations on the applications to the appropriate NIH national advisory council or board, and survey the status of research in their fields of science. . . .. You have been nominated because of your demonstrated competence and achievement in your scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of your research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors. Service on a study section also requires mature judgment and objectivity as well as the ability to work effectively in a group, qualities we believe you will bring to this important task."
