Award Amount: TBD We are pleased to announce that we are accepting applications from graduate students for the recently awarded Neuro-Immunology Training Grant (NITG). The NITG will provide support for one year, with the potential to renew for a second year of support. We will be appointing 2graduate student trainees this year. Some of the features of the training program include support for mentored research, training in experimental design, data analysis including statistics, publishing, grant writing, career planning, mentored preparation and submission of an F award proposal or equivalent, lunch talks with the other trainees and their mentors, presentation of data to the Neuro-Immunology community and partial support for travel to scientific meetings to present research findings. Applications in all areas of Neuro-Immunology, including autoimmunity, neurodegeneration, responses to CNS pathogens, brain tumor immunology, inflammation-induced seizures, etc. will be considered. Applicants must successfully complete their departmental preliminary examination and be entering at least their 3rd year prior to being appointed to the training program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals or permanent residents with a valid green card. Required components of the application include: A 2-page summary (single-spaced, 12 point font, 0.5 inch margins) of the proposed research project including: specific aims, significance, preliminary results and figures (if available) and research plan (references can exceed the 2-page limit); A CV with a list of educational experiences and publications; A one-page outline of the candidate’s career goals; Unofficial or copied transcripts of undergraduate, graduate and/or medical course grades; and Three letters of recommendation, including one from the training mentor.
