Award Amount: $300,000 The Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences provides funding to young investigators of outstanding promise in science relevant to the advancement of human health. The program makes grants to selected academic institutions to support the independent research of outstanding individuals who are in their first few years of their appointment at the assistant professor level. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please reach out to Chris Ostrander. Award Amount: $300,000 The Searle Scholars Program is a limited submission award program which makes grants to selected academic and research institutions to support the independent research of outstanding early-career scientists who have recently been appointed as assistant professors on a tenure-track appointment. Generally, the program makes 15 new grants annually. The Searle Scholars Program does not ordinarily support purely clinical research but has supported research programs that include both clinical and basic components. Potential applicants who are unsure if their research is appropriate for our Program are encouraged to examine the research interests of present and former Searle Scholars on this website. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please reach out to Chris Ostrander. Award Amount: $1,625,000 Pathway to Stop Diabetes® is a bold, innovative initiative designed to radically transform diabetes research. The American Diabetes Association vision is simple yet revolutionary: find a new generation of brilliant scientists at the peak of their creativity, and provide them with freedom, autonomy, and the financial and professional resources to set them on the road to breakthrough discoveries. Pathway accepts nominations for exceptional investigators with medical and scientific backgrounds who propose innovative basic, clinical, translational, behavioral, epidemiological and health services research relevant to any type of diabetes, diabetes-related disease state or complication. Pathway solicits nominations for candidates in all disciplines as applied to diabetes including medicine, biology, chemistry, computing, physics, mathematics and engineering. In addition, nomination of scientists from diverse backgrounds, including minority groups that are underrepresented in biomedical research, is strongly encouraged. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please reach out to Chris Ostrander. Award Amount: $350,000 The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports career development for promising early-career researchers who work in one of the foundation focus areas of reducing inequality and improving the use of research evidence. The program funds five-year research and mentoring plans that significantly expand researchers’ expertise in new disciplines, methods, and content areas. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please reach out to Chris Ostrander. Award Amount: $150,000 Brain Research Foundation’s Scientific Innovations Award Program provides funding for innovative science in both basic and clinical neuroscience. This funding mechanism is designed to support creative, exploratory, cutting edge research in well-established research laboratories, under the direction of established investigators. The objective of the SIA is to support projects that may be too innovative and speculative for traditional funding sources but still have a high likelihood of producing important findings. It is expected that investigations supported by these grants will yield high impact findings and result in major grant applications and significant publications in high impact journals. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please reach out to Chris Ostrander. Award Amount: $180,000 The mission of the Foundation is to support early-stage investigators engaged in basic biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis or treatment of disease. The U will nominate one faculty member for the 2020 award cycle. The funds are designed to provide faculty members who hold M.D. and/or Ph.D. degrees, and who are in the first to fourth year of a tenure-track position, with support to move their research project forward to the point where R01 or other independent funding can be obtained. Applicants with current R01 funding should not apply. If you are interested in applying or have questions, please reach out to Chris Ostrander.
