Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative: Exploratory Autism Research
Application Due Date: April 24, 2020
To help advance this mission, SFARI is inviting applications for the Summer 2020 Pilot Award from individuals in a position to conduct bold, imaginative, rigorous, and relevant research on autism. Through the program, grants of up to $300,000 (including 20 percent indirect costs) over up to two years will be awarded in support of exploratory ideas, particularly those involving a novel hypothesis for autism. Appropriate projects include those considered higher risk but with the potential for transformative results. In particular, SFARI encourages applications that propose research that links genetic or other ASD risk factors to molecular, cellular, circuit, or behavioral mechanisms of ASD. Investigators new to the field of autism are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible, all applicants and key collaborators must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree and have a faculty position or the equivalent at a college, university, medical school, or other research facility and have independent lab space at their institution. Applications may be submitted by domestic and foreign nonprofit organizations; public and private institutions such as colleges, universities, hospitals, laboratories, and units of state and local government; and eligible agencies of the federal government. There are no citizenship or country requirements.
