COVID-19 Weekly Update, September 22, 2020

After a period of decline and stabilization, Utah has seen a significant increase in the number of individuals testing positive for coronavirus. As the number of people with active coronavirus infections in Utah goes up, we expect to see a corresponding increase in hospitalizations across the state. This is a worrisome trend but reversible if we all work together.

COVID-19 Weekly Update, September 15, 2020

Based on the last few days of testing, the number of Utahns with active cases of coronavirus is increasing. It is difficult to determine whether this increase is a function of recent testing disruptions caused by weather, Labor Day holiday transmissions, or a combination of other factors. Additional data will help us gain a clearer picture.

We continue to watch the coronavirus numbers statewide, with a close view on Salt Lake County—where the majority of our University of Utah community lives. Positive test and hospitalization trends in SL County continue downward with slight upticks in both statewide.

COVID-19 Weekly Update, September 1, 2020

The keywords this week are “leveled off but stable.” Fewer symptomatic people are presenting for PCR testing at our community clinics. Our focus and attention expand to our campus community, which includes Salt Lake County. Hospitalizations have been decreasing, although percent positivity is rising slightly.
