Your Science, Your Voice: Communicating Research for Impact
How can I talk about my work to reach people where they are?
What can I do to increase trust in science and scientists?
How can I use social media to increase the impact of my research?
How can I use my voice as a scientist to make the change I want?
If you’ve ever asked yourself any of these questions, you’re not alone.
Researchers across the U are looking for ways to make their voices heard and communicate their research effectively. The U of U Health research communications team is proud to launch a new workshop series on effective science storytelling, focusing on how to talk, write, and post about research for broad audiences. Our goal is to give researchers the tools to level up your science communications, no matter your previous experience.
Workshops will be held every month throughout the summer:
- May 15: Honing Your Elevator Pitch
- June 26: Using Social Media to Share Your Research
- July 17: Media-Savvy Researcher: How to Navigate Interviews
- August 14: Giving a Great Presentation
Our first workshop will be held on May 15th at 11 a.m. and will give you the skills to refine your message as you craft an elevator pitch tailored to your goals. Attendees will have the chance to practice, get peer feedback, ask questions, and explore additional tools and resources.
All workshops will be hosted virtually over Zoom at this link. (Password: science). Researchers and science-interested individuals at all career stages are welcome!
