U Recruiting New Teams for NSF I-Corps Entrepreneurial Training

The University of Utah is currently recruiting new teams for the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps training. The U is a member of NSF I-Corps™ Hub West Region that supports early-stage entrepreneurial training for graduate students, postdoctoral trainees and research faculty.

The training is provided to participating teams in a three-stage program—ZAP, BOOM, and then National. Each team is made of at least 3 members—Principal Investigator/Technical Lead (PI/TL), Entrepreneurial Lead (EL), and Industrial Mentor (IM).

  • ZAP: Teams gain a broad introduction to startup methodology and the business model canvas. It helps teams along customer discovery and understanding value position through exercises.
  • BOOM: This is invitation-only training session for those who have completed ZAP. The training will dive deeper into customer discovery and the business ecosystem.
  • National: The teams will be selected from those who completed ZAP, BOOM, and a final screening process. Those who are accepted for the National Program will receive a $50,000 grant to support the commercialization of your deep technology.
