The Research Education Interest Group funding aims to further the research mission by providing financial support to groups that build community and collaboration, advance knowledge, and provide opportunities for trainee and faculty engagement. This funding mechanism is administered by the Office of the Associate VP for Research. While applications from all research areas are welcome, we urge all new and established interest groups to make research training a central component of their mission. Interest group leaders are strongly encouraged to pursue externally funded (e.g., NIH) training grants to fund trainees within their area of research. We also ask that interest group leaders encourage and support trainees to submit individual fellowship applications to NIH, NSF, or relevant foundations and professional associations. Funding decisions will be based on how successful interest groups are in supporting research training through these mechanisms. Priority will always be given to groups that actively support training grants. Long-term funding is not guaranteed, and groups must re-apply annually to receive ongoing funding.
This opportunity is open to all members of the HSC Research community. To accommodate the wide range of research interests we request groups apply to ONE of the three cohorts listed below by Monday, July 10th, 2023, 11:59pm. Once the applications are received, reviews will be completed under the direction of the Vice Dean for Research and the Office of the SVPHS.
