Postbaccalaureate Research Education Training Programs
The University of Utah Health is invested in creating opportunities for everyone to pursue a career in the biomedical sciences. Our postbaccalaureate training programs offer a mentored research experience, coursework, and professional development activities that facilitate the transition to research-intensive PhD programs.
The InterMountain Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (IM-PREP) and Intermountain Doctoral Education to Advance Students (IDEAS) in Neuroscience are NIH-funded programs that provide stipends, insurance, and an inclusive community committed to diversifying the biomedical workforce.
Intermountain Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (IM-PREP)
IM-PREP is a one-year NIH-funded biomedical research education training program that will specifically address the leaks in the pipeline leading from undergraduate to doctoral training of groups of underserved students in STEM. IM-PREP focuses on students who demonstrate a strong drive for research and would benefit from additional research-intensive training experiences and professional development, enhancing their successful transition to top-tier doctoral programs, as well as their long-term retention in PhD-based career tracks.
Intermountain Doctoral Education to Advance Students (IDEAS) in Neuroscience
Intermountain Doctoral Education to Advance Students (IDEAS) in Neuroscience is a 2 year, NIH-funded post-baccalaureate program at the University of Utah. This is a paid training program for recent college graduates interested in applying to Ph.D. programs in the neurosciences.
