The Center for Genomic Medicine and the University of Utah have resources to help our investigators conduct research at every stage of our discovery and translation pipeline.
Cohort Identification & Recruitment
CEPH/UGRP
Deidentified data from three generations of 47 Utah CEPH families are available for investigating traits and human genetic variation.
UGP IRB
The Utah Genome Project (UGP) offers an umbrella IRB that can be utilized for consenting research participants.
Utah Population Database Access
Navigator Jennifer West helps researchers gain approval from RGE committee to access the Utah Population Database.
Query the Utah Population Database
A limited version of the Utah Population Database is available to provide de-identified, summary data for proof of concept.
Sequencing
Health Sciences Center DNA Sequencing Core
The HSC DNA sequencing core offers Sanger and Next Generation sequencing services.
Huntsman Cancer High-Throughput Genomics Shared Resource
The High-Throughput Genomics Shared Resource offers Next Generation sequencing services.
Genomic Analysis
UCGD Core
The Utah Center for Genetic Discovery (UCGD) Core provides whole exome and whole genome sequence analyses for research and clinical projects.
3i-UCGD Bioinformatics Core
The 3I-UCGD Bioinformatics Core expansion offers immunology and microbiology-related bioinformatics services to all University of Utah investigators. We can perform, or expand on, most bioinformatic processing or analyses with domain expertise in immunology, microbial genomics and metagenomic approaches. We also offer consultation on experimental design and sequencing strategies, as well as reanalysis of publicly available data.
HCI Bioinformatics Analysis Shared Resource
The Bioinformatics Analysis Shared Resource at HCI offers support in processing and analyzing sequencing data.
Functional Validation
Functional Analysis Service
The Functional Analysis Service offers basic services for investigators looking to test gene variants in model organisms to assess function.
Drug & Diagnostics Development
Precision Diagnostics
ARUP Laboratories is a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory offering an extensive test menu of highly complex and unique medical tests.
Clinical Application & Return of Results
Genetic Counseling Returning of Results
Wendy Kohlmann, and her team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute Genetic Counseling Shared Resource, support investigators in returning medically actionable genetic findings to research participants.
Penelope Program
University of Utah Health's Penelope Program for rare and undiagnosed diseases is dedicated to solving some of the country's most complex medical cases. Finding answers opens opportunities for better care and improved health.
NeoSeq Program
A pilot project with a goal of quickly and accurately detecting genetic disorders among newborns in its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
All Other Resources
All of Us Researcher Portal
The NIH's All of Us Research Program is inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the most diverse health databases in history. The All of Us Researcher Workbench stores the health data of this cohort. The University of Utah has an institutional data use agreement in place for our investigators to access the All of Us Researcher Workbench for their own research projects.
Center for Clinical & Translational Science
The Center for Clinical & Translational Science (CCTS) serves as an academic home for clinical and translational research, developing innovative health services for the community and health researchers, and training a new generation of clinical and translational investigators. Providing support for T1 to T4 research, CCTS has four foundations of discovery: Clinical Trials Support, Population Health, Precision Medicine, and Workforce Development.
Genetic Science Learning Center
This center offers an educational module to learn about genetics and precision medicine.
Seed Grants
Seed grants are typically released in the spring and fall. The RFAs are distributed to CGM members through the listserv and monthly communications. For more details please see the funding opportunities page.
Fellowship in Pediatric Genomic Medicine and Therapy
Primary Children’s Hospital Center for Personalized Medicine offers a two-year fellowship in pediatric genomic medicine and gene therapy. Training occurs at the University of Utah and Primary Children’s Hospital, located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
