Education in Health Professions Certificate

As health professionals, we are clinical experts but often haven't had the opportunity to prepare to be educators. This graduate certificate is designed for clinicians and other in health professions education to strengthen your education practice, scholarship, and leadership.

Application Requirements

Each applicant must submit the following materials:

  • Application to the University of Utah Graduate School. Please complete the University of Utah Graduate School Certificate Application. Additional information can be found on the University of Utah Graduate School website.
  • Official Transcripts
  • Statement of Intent addressing the following: reasons for applying to the program, your current teaching role (if applicable), and your career development goals.
  • One Letter of Recommendation
  • Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Application Process

Step 1: Contact the Program

Please email MED_healthprofessions@hsc.utah.edu to introduce yourself and let us know you plan to apply.

Step 2: Arrange for Official Transcripts

Have your official transcripts sent directly to the University of Utah Admissions Office. Please request transcripts early, as delays in receiving them may slow the admissions process.

Official transcripts should be mailed to:

Step 3: Complete the Online Application

Complete the University of Utah Graduate School Certificate Application. On the Program Information page, under Program of Interest, select Education in Health Professions Certificate.

As part of the application, you will upload the following documents (doc or .pdf format):

  • Unofficial transcripts
  • Current CV
  • Statement of intent
  • Name and contact information for the individual providing your letter of recommendation

You do not need to complete the application in one sitting. The system allows you to save your progress and return later to finish your application.
