Our research efforts are further amplified by our strong collaborative culture and through synergy with our other core missions - clinical care, education, and community engagement. In partnership with fellow offices on campus, we will refine our faculty recruitment and hiring processes to attract individuals from all backgrounds who represent our institutional values and embody our commitment to innovative scientific research.
Develop research space that encourages collaboration within and across disciplines.
Engage in the campus strategic planning process to develop specific OneU collaborations.
New Solutions
Partner with departments, offices, and HR to evaluate the implementation of Career, propose relevant policy changes, and ensure staff advancement pathways, with the goal of cultivating the next generation of leaders.
Launch the Philanthropic Advisory Board.
Identify research areas where the University of Utah Health Sciences has unique national distinction, strength, critical mass, and/or differentiation where we are poised to lead nationally and globally.
Organizational Excellence
Work with departments to optimize expectations of appropriate protected time and salary composition structures for research-intensive faculty.
Develop a 5-year strategy to diversify our funding streams including commercialization, strengthening our federal relationships, and cultivating external partnerships.
As with all research, we view this strategy as living, iterative, and occurring in phases. We identified three overarching goals with corresponding implementation tactics that we felt could be accomplished within a year. Each year we identify new implementation tactics.
We strive to set a strong and steady course for the research mission, while remaining dynamic enough to continually evaluate and, as appropriate, rebalance our research efforts to optimize institutional growth and leverage emerging areas of importance.
