As Manager of the Global Outreach Division at the John A. Moran Eye Center, Michael oversees the strategy, resources and implementation of the Division’s world-wide health care delivery programs (including in the most underserved populations in the state of Utah), the educational and skills transfer exchange programs, and the Division’s research efforts into the burden of eye diseases and barriers to access for eye care. His most recent medical missions have taken him from the distant atolls in the Federated States of Micronesia to northern Haiti and central highlands of Guatemala. As the former Executive Director of the Ouelessebougou Alliance, Michael built sustainable health, education and economic development projects in 25 remote villages in Mali, West Africa. He has also studied the innovative model of self-sufficient agricultural schools for the rural poor in Paraguay and has spent more than 16 years working with the Navajo Nation on education and humanitarian projects.

Administration

Mr. Negrette has more than 25 years of extensive international experience in health programs design, implementation and management. He has successfully directed health service delivery programs and commercial healthcare activities, and has structured and developed productive partnerships of strategic importance with relevant private sector companies and government entities, resulting in tangible improvement of the health and social conditions of communities and populations served.

Mr. Negrette has effectively adopted and adapted commercial tools, techniques and approaches to primary care programs in different parts of the world. He has also designed and implemented effective strategic health marketing and communication interventions in challenging environments in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Mr. Negrette is currently the Director of Global Health at the University of Utah.

Debbie Dixon has 18 years of experience as an education professional with experience in public, proprietary, and higher education, including UCLA as assistant director of undergraduate admissions and Le Cordon Bleu as a classroom educator. At the university she worked with the School of Medicine Global Health Education program and coordinated several courses. As program manager for Global Health – Health Sciences Ms. Dixon oversees operational and administrative matters ranging from program implementation to daily operations and procedures of the office of global health. She has a master’s degree in speech communication.
