New Leader Orientation 2025

The New Leader Orientation for Deans, Associate Deans and Chairs is an annual event hosted jointly by the offices for Faculty on Main Campus and Health Sciences. This daylong event is highly recommended for people who are stepping in to a new leadership role and is a great opportunity to meet other new leaders from across campus.

Playing to Your Strengths (May 5 & 6, 2025)

In this workshop, participants will explore their strengths and develop strategies to apply them to their work, resulting in greater impact and career satisfaction. We will use common tests (e.g., Clifton Strengths, VIA, DiSC, Enneagram, Competing Values, TKI, and others) to give insight into the ways that we can best apply ourselves to our careers. You can also bring this knowledge to your team and facilitate their development. You will have the opportunity to take all tests for yourself.

Advanced Communication (June 5 & 6, 2025)

Communication skills such as giving feedback, influencing others, and making presentations are often crucial to our success. Although we have spent years in technical training for our profession, few of us have had proper communication training. This two-day workshop will cover core communication skills that professionals should be proficient in.

Topics include: giving feedback, difficult conversations, public speaking, emails, coaching, writing for clarity)

Developing Your Skills of Management Week (August 11 to 15, 2025)

In August, the Office for Faculty will hold a weeklong virtual workshop covering core topics related to managing teams and organizations. Participants can attend the topics that interest them. Topics will include: team communication, interviewing and hiring, process improvement, finance, setting goals, creating accountability, innovation, strategic planning, branding, and others.

Way of Authentic Leadership (October 15 to 17, 2025)

This three-day retreat at Snowbird is for serious students of leadership and is designed to elicit your authentic leadership. We will explore the spirit and philosophy of leadership, going beyond conventional notions of corporate leadership. We will also explore the concept of calling and how you are called to lead. If you want to lead with greater authenticity and integrity, this retreat will show you the way.
