The Utah Medical Orchestra (UMO) is a distinguished ensemble comprised of members of Utah’s healthcare community.
Now in our fifth season, the Utah Medical Orchestra—an official University of Utah–sponsored organization—continues to thrive as a vibrant intersection of music, medicine, and wellness. With ongoing sponsorship from the Department of Anesthesiology, the UMO has grown into a high-quality, mission-driven symphony orchestra with affiliated chamber ensembles. Hundreds of students, trainees, faculty, researchers, and staff across University of Utah Health have found meaningful community through music-making, while thousands more from the broader community have attended UMO performances. This work remains closely aligned with the University’s wellness initiatives and continues to have a powerful, positive impact.

Fostering Community Through Music
Our mission is to build a sense of community among healthcare workers by offering a low-stress, flexible creative outlet for those with demanding schedules. We collaborate to create exceptional music and foster connections within the medical community.
We are currently seeking musicians of all skill levels for orchestral instruments. While our repertoire is generally suited for intermediate to late-intermediate players, we welcome everyone to join and contribute to our ensemble.
Donations allow us to continue sharing performances with the community, using music to empower and connect. As a volunteer organization, we do not charge membership dues or concert fees, ensuring that music remains accessible to all.
