Traci Baird visited the University of Utah campus on March 14, meeting with faculty from various departments and presenting the first "Women Leaders in Global Health Lecture Series" sponsored by the Office of Global Health. Her presentation, “Women’s Leadership in Global Health and the Role of International NGOs in Advancing Gender Equality” promnpted a stimulating discussion of issues of gender equality and women global heatlh leadership.
Traci Baird is the President and CEO of EngenderHealth, an organization with a 75-year history of supporting governments to improve contraceptive counseling and services as well as improving access to care for HIV/AIDS, cervical cancer, safe abortion, post abortion care, obstetric fistula, and gender-based violence. Traci held many roles at Ipas, a global sexual and reproductive health and rights organization, ultimately overseeing its programs across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Subsequently, Traci served as CEO of SHIFT NC, a nonprofit organization working to improve adolescent and young adult sexual health across North Carolina. Traci has a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina, and a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University, with a concentration in Women’s Health.
