Visiting Speaker Pape A Gaye

Pape Amadou Gaye is president and CEO of IntraHealth International, an organization that works with governments, civil society and the private sector to improve the performance of health care workers and strengthen the systems that support them. IntraHealth has worked in more than 100 countries worldwide to ensure that the most vulnerable populations have access to a well-trained and supported health worker. View video here.

Under Gaye’s leadership IntraHealth has led the US government’s flagship investment in human resources for health (HRH) for more than a decade. His presentation will look at the progress and innovations of those investments and encourage a rich discussion on what the next decade will require to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and World Health Organization’s call for universal health coverage.

For over three decades Gaye has advocated for, built, and leveraged strong partnerships with the communities and government in the countries he serves. He has worked alongside multilateral partners and donors to catalyze sustainable development using innovative and evidence based approaches to end the health workforce crisis, reduce mortality and morbidity of individuals and families, and promote economic development and his passion for seeing global equity in our lifetime. He also continues to advocate for family planning, especially in his native West Africa, as a high-impact solution to address health and population challenges. He holds an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles. To learn more about Pape and IntraHealth, please visit www.intrahealth.org and @pgaye and @intrahealth on Twitter.
