Dr. Julie Hansen Fellows Program
The Center for Medical Innovation at the University of Utah Health is pleased to announce the inaugural cohort of Dr. Julie Hansen Fellowships.
The Dr. Julie Hansen Fellowship program at the Center for Medical Innovation (CMI) is designed for graduate business and engineering students to directly apply their skills to projects currently under development in CMI’s medical device accelerator program, and prepare for a career in the medtech and device development industry.
Working in direct collaboration with CMI’s full-time staff to support the ongoing research and development, Hansen fellows will commit to 3 consecutive semesters (12 months) as they de-risk and prepare new medical technologies for competitive entry into the healthcare market.

- Flexibility: Students select their 12-month program cycle:
- Opt 1, Summer Start (e.g. Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 semesters)
- Opt 2, Fall Start (e.g. Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters)
Candidate Requirements
- Preference for Graduate Students in the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science: Mechanical, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering, or other life science programs.
- 20 hours / week on-site at the CMI offices in downtown SLC
- Familiarity with device development pipeline or previous experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
