About Me
Michael obtained his PhD in the lab of Dr. John Hawse in the Mayo Clinic Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2023. His research focuses on aberrant gene expression in the development and progression of human disease, in which he has led several projects in breast cancer and in osteoporosis. In the Holmen Lab, he plans to continue research on the molecular mechanisms of human disease in melanoma, with particular focuses on studying therapeutic evasion and metastatic spread. Outside of the laboratory he enjoys hiking, swimming, skiing, cooking, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.
