About Me
Maddie earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering in May, and is currently finishing up her Master of Engineering, both at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. During her undergrad, she researched neuroblastoma and developed a microfluidic chip using silk scaffolds to model the 3D tumor microenvironment. Before joining the Schiffman lab in the fall of 2023, she worked at a startup biotechnology company as a molecular biology intern, and used genetic engineering techniques to generate transgenic mice to produce antibodies. As a Hodgkin lymphoma survivor, Maddie is excited about the potential therapeutic value of Ep53 in the treatment of cancer. In her free time, she enjoys walking her rabbit Sampson, baking, rock climbing, and reading.
