Jason’s research focuses on holistically studying real-world contexts to identify opportunities for technology to better serve those contexts. Together with his Personal Data and Empowerment research lab and collaborators, he leverages these insights to develop, deploy, and evaluate systems based on these insights. His work tends to focus in particular on personal data, such as patient-generated health data. He also works towards understanding and improving the design processes for creating just-in-time adaptive interventions (JITAIs). Jason has worked with domain experts in many areas, including pulmonary (air quality), prostate cancer, skin cancer, geriatrics, and spinal cord injury/tetraplegia.
