About Me
Claudia Melendez is an MD candidate at the University of Utah School of Medicine, class of 2027. She majored in neuroscience and international relations with a concentration in global health at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), where she graduated in 2023. During her time at Penn, she worked with a team at the Abramson Cancer Center to address the rising disparities in colorectal cancer screening. Her work centered on reducing barriers to access by bringing screenings directly to communities. Her work with Dr. Suneja centers on understanding the documentation of social determinants of health within the radiation oncology department to identify changes that could be made to better support patients. Outside of school, Claudia enjoys paddleboarding, reading, and cheering on her favorite Philly sports teams.
