About Me
Colten is a recent PhD graduate from BYU where he studied under the direction of Dr. Josh L. Andersen. There he gained expertise in the field of autophagy where he identified essential trafficking mechanisms for a protein called ATG9A. He also studied 14-3-3 proteins and identified a novel 14-3-3 dependent mechanism that regulates a protein that is highly expressed in prostate cancer called PTOV1. Colten joined the Holmen lab in October 2022 to study the effect novel small molecule therapeutics have on preventing melanoma brain metastases. Before becoming a scientific researcher, Colten studied music at BYU-Idaho and played as the lead drummer in BYU-Idaho's top big band, Sound Alliance. In his free time, you'll find Colten enjoying time with his family, playing card and board games, playing the drums, or watching a Utah Jazz game.
