PathMaker Scholars

The Huntsman Cancer Institute-Utah Valley University Health Collaborative offers UVU students hands-on experience in cancer research, cancer center professional services, and clinical volunteer services—providing mentorship and real-world training to shape the next generation of health care leaders.
COE Internship
The Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) is seeking applicants for their internship program. Selected interns will join established teams devoted to creating long-term solutions to prevent and screen for cancer and improve the health of individuals, families, and communities. Shadowing Opportunities
The CRTEC office at Huntsman Cancer Institute will assist trainees in finding opportunities for clinical shadowing in the cancer care arena or for shadowing behind the scenes in our Shared Resources.
Scientific Enrichment Month (SEM) Program
HCI supports and promotes this free virtual program for high school students led by the Herbert Irving Cancer Center located at Columbia University. This month-long program is held in July and focuses on cancer education, scientific enrichment, and professional development. HCI partners by providing a Cancer Genetics and Genetic Counseling working group as well as other presentations.

Trainee Mentor Directory
Looking for guidance from someone who has recently navigated the trainee experience? The Trainee Mentor Directory connects current trainees with fellow trainees and early-career researchers who have volunteered to share their knowledge, experiences, and advice. The directory includes mentors from a variety of training backgrounds and areas of expertise who are available to support fellow trainees.
Mentors may be able to help with:
- Application essay feedback
- Mock interview preparation
- Clinical research insights
- Wet lab and bioinformatics experiences
- Population sciences training pathways
Use the directory to identify mentors whose experience aligns with your interests, then contact them directly to request a conversation.
