Dr. Judy Ou, PhD, MPH, is an Investigator at Huntsman Cancer Institute in the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Research Program and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She also serves as the Assistant Director for Research Facilitation and Integration for the Utah Cancer Registry. Her research integrates epidemiology, environmental health, and cancer survivorship to understand how environmental exposures shape cancer risk and outcomes. Her work spans exposures ranging from wildfires and air pollution to neighborhood and healthcare environments, with the goal of advancing cancer prevention and improving survivorship. This work is particularly important in the Mountain West, where families face growing environmental challenges, including extreme heat and wildfire smoke, as well as barriers to healthcare access due to long travel distances and workforce shortages. Her research seeks to identify opportunities to improve cancer prevention and survivorship outcomes for both rural and urban populations.
