Dr. Kovacsovics-Bankowski joined the Hu-Lieskovan Laboratory in March 2020. She received her medical degree from the University of Geneva Medical School, Geneva, Switzerland. She trained in immunology as a post-doc at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, Massachusetts, under the supervision of Kenneth Rock, MD.

She then did her residency in internal medicine at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Lausanne, Switzerland. She pursued her work in immunology at OHSU, Portland, Oregon, by investigating the immunosuppressive properties of multipotent adult progenitor cells (MAPC) in a rat model of graft-versus-host disease. These studies led to the approval by the FDA of the use of MAPC in human graft-versus-host disease.

She worked then as a research scientist at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, Providence Portland Medical Center, Portland, Oregon, in Dr. Andrew Weinberg’s laboratory. She was responsible for the immunomonitoring of the phase I anti-OX40 clinical trial. She received her master of science in clinical investigations from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.
