Rapid Genetic Testing to Optimize Treatment

Given that one in five critically ill infants has a serious genetic condition, University of Utah scientists developed advanced, rapid genetic testing methods to help doctors quickly determine the best treatment when every second counts. Eligible infants in the University Hospital newborn intensive care unit (NICU) can now participate in this program, allowing them to receive more effective care sooner. Plans are underway to expand the program to other hospitals in Utah.
