At the Forefront of Cardiovascular Care

Health care providers at University Hospital made history in 1982 by implanting the first permanent artificial heart, the Jarvik 7, which had been developed by scientists at the University of Utah. This spirit of innovation continues today at U of U Health, where experts are finding new ways to better understand and treat heart conditions—from arrhythmia to heart failure. These efforts are improving care here in Utah and around the world.
