Strengthening Global MedTech Ties: CMI Participates in KHIDI MedTech Insight 2025

Salt Lake City, Utah | September 2025 – The Center for Medical Innovation (CMI) at the University of Utah proudly participated in the 2025 KHIDI MedTech Insight Conference held in Seoul, South Korea, a premier international event focused on advancing medical technology and global health care collaboration.

We thank Dr. Alexander W. Pastuszak and Kolja Klug for representing CMI at the conference. Their presence underscored CMI’s leadership in fostering strategic partnerships between Utah and Korea, particularly in MedTech innovation, commercialization, and cross-border collaboration.

Dr. Pastuszak—a successful serial entrepreneur, internationally recognized urologist, and Chief of Surgical Innovation at the University of Utah—delivered a featured session titled Commercialization Strategies and the Role of Key Opinion Leaders. His presentation offered practical insights for Korean companies entering the U.S. market, emphasizing:

  • Ethical engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
  • Developing reimbursement strategies alongside regulatory submissions
  • Navigating the fragmented U.S. health care system
  • Adapting to evolving market dynamics under the current administration

His expertise in both clinical care and health care innovation provided attendees with a comprehensive view of how to build sustainable and impactful MedTech ventures in the U.S.

The event received widespread coverage in major Korean news outlets, which spotlighted CMI’s international consulting contributions and the growing alignment between Utah and Korea on MedTech innovation, supply chain diversification, and emerging opportunities in outpatient care, robotics, and AI-enabled workflows.

We also thank Youran Kim, and the entire KHIDI team for organizing this event and for their continued efforts to strengthen Korea–U.S. health care ties. The conference reflects KHIDI’s broader mission to support the global expansion of Korean MedTech services, institutions, and innovations.
