Ayer Lab

Expertise in the Study of Leukemia

The Deininger/O'Hare lab expertise is in the study of leukemia. The lab's research program focuses on the biology of myeloproliferative neoplasms and the development of molecularly targeted therapies. We are especially interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as imatinib, a drug used to treat chronic myeloid leukemia and some other types of cancer.

Postdoctoral researcher Dr. Dongqing Yan was awarded the Best Oral Presentation at the HCI Trainee Research Symposium in 2018 for her talk, SIRT5 as a Therapeutic Target in Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
