Young Researcher Day (YRD)

Young Researcher Day introduces middle school students to careers in cancer research, healthcare, and STEM through hands-on learning experiences at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Participants engage with researchers, clinicians, and students while exploring basic, clinical, and population science through interactive activities, lab experiences, and career panels. In 2025, 60 students participated in the program, gaining firsthand exposure to the many career pathways that contribute to cancer research and patient care.

PathMaker Connect

PathMaker Connect is Huntsman Cancer Institute’s annual community outreach event designed to inspire future scientists and increase awareness of cancer research, prevention, and educational opportunities. The event brings together students, families, educators, researchers, and community partners for a day of interactive activities, research showcases, health education, and community engagement. PathMaker Connect helps strengthen connections between Huntsman Cancer Institute and the communities we serve while introducing participants to STEM pathways and valuable health resources. Following the 2025  PathMaker Connect event, 60% of participants under the age of 18 reported increased interest in STEM.
