Health Sciences Fellowship: A Focus on Strategy

The Health Sciences Fellow is given privileged access to the inner workings of the Health Sciences Strategy team. The strategy team is a group of highly motivated and technically proficient strategic engagement managers, analysts, and data scientists who function as a thinktank and internal consulting group across the health system. Daily activities include data analysis and visualization, narrative creation, engagement management, and facilitation of strategic discussions. As the Health Sciences Fellow, you are expected and encouraged to become a part of this team, although fellows are also empowered to pursue opportunities in other areas.

Strategy work provides fellows the opportunity to:

  • help advance longitudinal engagements core to health system improvement and growth,
  • develop analytic skills and a deeper understand of healthcare data and informatics,
  • learn how to think theoretically and critically about health care and health care business issues,
  • interface with clinical units and health system leaders, and
  • gain exposure to the theory and practice of business strategy.

Fellows will have the opportunity to observe executive-level meetings, be mentored by leaders in academic medicine, and work on projects that help advance the health system.
