MOU signing with Nepal Open University

Dr Ram Shrestha, a lead faculty with the Nepal Open University visited the University of Utah SOM 9/26-29, 2018. As part of his visit, he signed an MOU between the University of Utah and Nepal Open University, (NOU) with signatories Dr Ruth Watkins, President and Dr Michel Good SVP from UU; and Dr. Lekhnath Sharma,, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Ram Shrestha, Lead Faculty NOU.
As DFPM Global Partners, Don and Kathy Pedersen have been working with Dr Shrestha in Nepal for several years, have developed various projects with him, and currently are working with him on the Nepal Open University <http://nou.edu.np/>. Dr Shrestha is Lead Faculty for Science, Health, and Technology for Nepal Open University. He is in charge of the Advanced Health Assistant Program.
Dr. Shrestha has developed a collegial relationship with the University of Utah over these many years as we have explored, researched, and hope to impact the Physician Assistant entity in Nepal.
Dr. Shretha planned a trip to Utah to meet with UU faculty and staff, and attended the SOM Alumni Weekend. Dr. Shrestha, a surgeon who received the Icon of Surgery Award from the Asian Surgical Society, also met with the IMC Trauma Team on a multi-year project on chest wall injuries and multiple rib fixation that has involved bilateral conferences between countries.
