Call for Conference Submissions

We are calling for submissions for oral podium presentations, informational posters & table displays, and visual arts presentations. Three categories of submissions will be considered: 

  • Knowledge
    • Primary or secondary research that has led to knowledge creation or discovery related to one of more of the Conference themes
  • Solutions
    • Bench to Bedside solutions include the development or application 
      of technology or devices that address one or more of the conference themes
    • Concept to Community solutions include social, entrepreneurial or programmatic innovations that address one or more of the conference themesGlobal Health Solutions
  • Inspiration
    • Visual art submissions (e.g., ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, filmmaking, and architecture) related to one of more of the Conference themes

Submission Instructions

  • All submissions must include a description no greater than 250 words in MS Word or PDF format
  • Visual arts submissions must also include a digital image of the work in PDF or jpeg format.
  • Figures, tables and graphs are not necessary for submissions
  • Submissions must include the authors' names, title of submission and primary author's email contact information
  • All submissions will be considered for an oral podium presentation
  • Oral podium presentations are held during concurrent conference sessions and are 15 minutes in length including 5 minutes for dialogue with the audience
  • Submissions not selected for an oral podium presentation will be considered for poster or table/visual arts display
  • Email submissions to:exaff@utah.edu
  • Submissions received prior to Friday, June 8, 2018, 11:59 PM MST will be considered
  • Submission of your work indicates that the author/creator or co-author/co-creator will register for the conference and be present to show the work

 Notification of Acceptance

  • Conference organizers will notify authors/creators by email if the submission is accepted or declined by Friday, June 15, 2018
  • If you have not received notification by June 15, 2018, please contact: exaff@utah.edu

 Poster Display Guidelines

Submissions selected for display in poster format will be shown during one of two concurrent sessions on either July 9 or 10, 2018 and should meet the following guidelines:

  • Posters should measure no more than 1 meter wide by 0.75 meters in height
  • Posters should include the title of the poster and list the authors
  • Posters should include legible font readable from a distance of at least 3 meters
  • Try to minimize text on the poster while retaining the key aspects of the background, methods, result and conclusions
  • Figures, tables, graphs and images should be utilized to maximize impact of the poster
  • Color posters preferred

Solutions (B2B/C2C) Table Display Guidelines 

Some innovations are societal and/or process focused and cannot be physically prototyped, therefore we welcome presentation of both technological and social innovation in a format that is best adapted to your solution. Global Health Solutions

  • Please contact conference organizers at exaff@utah.edu regarding display needs.
  • Participants with table exhibits are responsible for transportation, set-up, display and removal of their work.

 Visual Art Display Guidelines

Each submission with accompanying image or video of a visual art submission selected for display will be shown during one of two concurrent sessions on either July 9 or 10, 2018.

  • Visual artists are responsible for transportation, set-up, display and removal of their work
  • For large works of art, please contact the conference organizers at exaff@utah.edu to discuss accommodation
