Funded AHA fellowship

Thomas Seidel, MD, a post-doctoral fellow working at the CVRTI in Dr. Sachse's lab, has been awarded a 2-year American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship for his work “ T-System and RyR Cluster Remodeling after Myocardial Infarction and Its Effects on Ca2+ Release”. Spontaneous Ca2+ release in cardiomyocytes can trigger ventricular arrhythmias. The transverse tubular system (t-system) and ryanodine receptors (RyRs) are main structures involved in intracellular Ca2+ release. The goal of this project is to investigate how these structures and their function change after myocardial infarction and whether the remodeling can be influenced by pharmacotherapy.... Read More
