Innovation begins at the Bench to Bedside Workshops

Bench to Bedside hosts several workshops throughout the year to help match your ideas with the very best resources. We’ll provide the resources to help you showcase your best work so you can win funding to launch your company and take the product to market.

Business Plan Workshop:

Business planning is a crucial part of the start-up process. This workshop is intended to help competitors put together a plan that will allow their company to flourish in the short and long term. It will be an interactive workshop aimed at helping students create viable business plans to present on competition night and to steer the direction of their project in the future.

Pre-competition Workshop #1:

Being able to pitch your innovation idea in a succinct but meaning manner is crucial in order to attract investors and key opinion leaders. In this workshop, students will learn how to construct a 5-minute pitch for their medical innovation idea. Additionally, Bench to Bedside leadership will detail what is expected in the competition packet. Tips and advice will be given for the market analysis, business plan, design specifications, regulatory strategy and intellectual property sections of the competition packet.

Pre-competition Workshop #2:

Bench to Bedside leadership will detail what is expected for the posters and competition packet for competition night. Tips and advice will be given for the market analysis, business plan, design specifications, regulatory strategy and intellectual property sections of the competition packet. This will be an interactive workshop aimed to helped students finalize their competition packet and answer any question students may have about the competition packet, poster, or competition night.

  • Leadership

Competition Night:

This night is the culmination of months of work and gives each team the opportunity to present their prototypes and posters to the public, including news media and several industry leaders and investors. Teams also compete for over $80,000 in prizes. Family and friends of teams are invited.

What now- Starting a company Workshop:

This workshop highlights the next steps for student teams who wish to take their innovation to the next level. Teams will learn how to form a company and maintain intellectual property. Additionally, instructions on how to use Bench to Bedside prize money and acquire additional funding from investors and other outside sources will be explained.
