Get started with Bench to Bedside at the Orientation & Team Building Seminar
The Orientation introduces students to the many resources available on campus and provided by Bench to Bedside. Speakers will include representatives from Get Seeded, the Marriot Library, the Eccles Health Sciences Library, the Center for Medical Innovation, the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, I-Corps, and the SJ Quinney College of Law. These professionals have expertise in patent searches, prototyping, entrepreneurship, and provide funding for student innovations. Each speaker will introduce the resources they provide students for 10 minutes followed by a question and answer session at the end. The Bench to Bedside leadership team will also be outlining the milestone submissions and required steps in order to compete in the Bench to Bedside competition.
The Team-Building Seminar will facilitate student interaction to aid in the formation of teams. Short games and quizzes mix up students and introduce them to other students they normally would not reach out to. Following the team building games, students will be grouped by their specific interests in medical innovation. This event’s goal is to form multidisciplinary teams of engineering, business, and healthcare students. Any students that do not form a team will have more opportunities, and may be assisted by signing up to join a randomized group based off common interests.
